Draw the whole room, including alcoves, recesses, doorways and fixed features. A simple outline is enough. Add a second sketch for another room rather than squeezing everything into one drawing.
Note the longest points.
Record the longest overall length and width, including recesses. Write the units beside every measurement and keep them consistent. Add the dimensions of alcoves and changes in shape so the layout is clear.
Show us what is there now.
Include room photographs, the existing flooring and any door or access restrictions. Mention stairs, landings and irregular shapes so the team can advise about professional measuring.
Let the store check the plan.
Multiplying length by width does not by itself tell you how much flooring to order. Roll widths, pattern direction, joins, cuts, pack sizes and product requirements can all affect quantities. Ask the store to confirm the final measurement and layout.
